Tennessee: Corker praises Senate vote on sanctions. US Sen. Bob Corker (R), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, praised Senate passage by 98 to 2 of a measure to strengthen sanctions against Iran and Russia. “With passage of this legislation the Senate reasserts congressional authority … and sends a clear signal to both Iran and Russia that our country will stand firm in the face of destabilizing behavior.” Meanwhile, President Trump says that additional sanctions against Russia are not needed ……. South Carolina: Graham likes Trump’s Afghanistan plans. “I’ve never been more proud of President Trump and his team than right now,” US Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) told Fox News following a White House briefing on US strategy in Afghanistan. “Failure in Afghanistan puts the American homeland at risk. Every soldier over there is an insurance policy against another 9/11.” Graham’s comments were reported by Roll Call ……. Georgia: Isakson hosts pre-game barbecue. US Sen. Johnny Isakson (R) provided his ninth barbecue lunch for Senators in both parties yesterday. Isakson brought up a team from Sams BBQ1 in Marietta; they cooked 400 pounds of pulled pork, beef brisket and St. Louis pork ribs overnight in Northern Virginia, and trucked it over to the Russell Senate Office Building in time for yesterday’s lunch …….
