Alabama: Brooks says McConnell misled Trump. In response to President Trump’s endorsement of US Sen. Luther Strange in the August 15 GOP primary, fellow candidate US Rep. Mo Brooks said, “I am baffled and disappointed Mitch McConnell and the Swamp somehow misled the President into endorsing Luther Strange.” Meanwhile, Texas Ranger star Chuck Norris endorsed former state Chief Justice Roy Moore, who has been leading but without a majority, in most polls ……. Virginia: Northam leads in VCU poll. A survey by Virginia Commonwealth University showed Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam (D) with 42% to 37% for former GOP national chairman Ed Gillespie (R); Libertarian Cliff Hyra had 6%, reports the Washington Post ……. Florida: Grand jury doesn’t indict Gillum. A Leon County grand jury returned a “No True Bill” on a complaint that Tallahassee Mayor – and gubernatorial candidate – Andrew Gillum (D) mis-used official email lists, though it criticized some city business practices. The grand jury action prompted Gillum to say he had been cleared of all wrong doing, an interpretation the GOP contests. Meanwhile, on the money front, Gillum raised $60,000 in July, compared to $350,000 by former US Rep. Gwen Graham (D) and $154,000 by Orlando businessman and political newcomer Chris King (D) …….
