Virginia: Warner says Obama made right immigration decision. In a spirited debate in Northern Virginia between US Sen. Mark Warner (D) and challenger Ed Gillespie (R), Warner declared that President Obama made the correct decision in delaying his decision on immigration policy until after the election. “Immigration reform needs to happen legislatively,” Warner said, as reported in the Washington Post. Gillespie said that Warner has “been a blank check” for President Obama.
Louisiana: Nagin now an inmate. On Monday, former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin began his ten-year sentence in a federal minimum security camp in Texarkana, Arkansas. Nagin was convicted on 20 of 21 counts of bribery, fraud and money laundering. He drove himself to the prison, arriving only minutes before the noon deadline, reported the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He was accompanied by his wife, two sons and a daughter, but walked to the guard house alone. He is inmate No. 32751-034.
Mississippi: Childers sics bloodhounds on Cochran. Travis Childers, former congressman and now the Democratic challenger to US Sen. Thad Cochran (R), has released his first campaign video this week, reports Gulflive.com. The ad features a man walking bloodhounds and asking, “Have you seen Thad Cochran?” Childers has challenged Cochran, the heavy favorite in the race, to a series of debates, but Cochran has not said yea or nay.
