Mitch McConnell: Obama threat not productive

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the Senate will try to work with President Barack Obama on trade, infrastructure and tax reform — but his Republican chamber will forge ahead regardless of Obama’s veto threats and opposition to GOP legislation.

And while the Kentucky Republican urged Obama on Wednesday to reject pleas from the liberal base to fight Republicans, McConnell isn’t finding the early returns encouraging. The GOP leader slammed Obama’s Tuesday veto threat of the Keystone XL pipeline as “anything but productive,” which came well before either the House or Senate has even voted to send approval of the politically charged pipeline to Obama’s desk.
