Florida: Bush to address big donors. When the Republican National Committee holds its retreat for major contributors to its Republican Majority Fund, one of the speakers will be likely presidential candidate Jeb Bush, reports The Hill, which also featured a glowing profile of Columba Bush, Bush’s wife. Despite a reputation for shyness, “She’s strong as iron. If [Jeb] decides to run, she’ll be a great partner on the campaign trail,” says Brett Doster, a former political advisor to Bush ……. Louisiana: Scalise making amends. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R), whose 2002 address to a group founded by former Klan leader David Duke created a stir late last year, has arranged to meet with two prominent civil rights leaders, Urban League president Marc Morial, a former New Orleans mayor, and Wade Henderson, who heads the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, reports The Hill. In a similar vein, earlier this week Scalise spoke to a breakfast meeting of the Ripon Society, a group of moderate GOPers ……. Texas: Perry calls indictment persecution. Former Gov.
