Alabama: Harper Lee novel to be published. “To Kill a Mockingbird,” a best-selling novel by Harper Lee, was published in 1960 and made into a popular movie. Now, some 55 years later, a novel Lee, now 88, wrote in the 1950s but had been laid aside and forgotten, will be released on July 14, reports the Hickory Daily Record. “Go Set a Watchman” is essentially a sequel to “Mockingbird,” although it was written earlier ……. Florida: Bush beats Rubio; edged by Clinton. A new poll by Mason-Dixon shows that 59% of Florida’s Republicans want their former governor, Jeb Bush, to run for president, to 31% who say he should not. US Sen. Marco Rubio, however, doesn’t fare as well: 15% say he should run for president, to 57% who say he should seek another term in the Senate. If the 2016 race were between Bush and Hillary Clinton, says a Quinnipiac Poll, Clinton edges Bush 44% to 43%. Both surveys were published in Sunshine State News ……. According to Gallup, only five states – MA, HI, MD, NY & CA – gave President Obama a 50%+ job approval rating in 2014.
