Florida: Murphy for Senate. With US Sen. Marco Rubio (R) contemplating a presidential race, his senate seat may or may not be open in 2016. But either way, there’s growing talk that US Rep. Patrick Murphy (D) may run for the Senate seat. Described in The Hill as “a rising political star,” Murphy is a good fundraiser, a young 31, and may run whether or not Rubio seeks reelection, says his staffer Anthony Kusich ……. Texas: Economically confident. According to Gallup, Texas ranks 7th among the states in the pollster’s Economic Confidence Index, the only Southern state to make the top ten cut. Among the ten least confident, seven are from Dixie: AL, KY, MS, AR, LA, OK & TN ……. Louisiana: Jindal says fewer debates meant to prevent a conservative nominee. Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) took a swipe at the RNC for announcing nine debates for the GOP’s 2016 nominating contest, compared to 20 in 2012. “I think a lot of the folks who are complaining about the [nominating] process are really complaining that they don’t want someone who is too conservative and really wants to repeal Obamacare,” Jindal told a Christian Science Monitor briefing, as reported in The Hill …….
