Alabama: Roby hosts meeting on Benghazi. US Rep. Martha Roby (R) is sponsoring a Coffee and Conversations gathering next week featuring US Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), chairman of the House committee investigating the 2012 attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Roby is also a member of the committee ……. Florida: Scott signs online registration law. Gov. Rick Scott (R) has signed legislation allowing for a system of online voter registration in the Sunshine State by 2017. Scott expressed some reservations about cyber attacks, reports the Tampa Bay Times, but said, “I am confident that the Department of [State] … will act carefully and prudently in developing needed protection for citizen information.” ……. Oklahoma: GOP embroiled in staff controversy. After newly-elected state Republican Chairman Randy Brogdon appointed T.C. Ryan executive director, it was disclosed that Ryan had a misdemeanor domestic abuse from 2012. Brogdon demoted Ryan to political director, but some GOP lawmakers want him removed from any party job. The state Senate GOP caucus sent a letter to Brogdon reading, in part, “There is no place in our society for domestic abuse and violence against women. Our party needs to send the right message to women, and take a strong stand on this issue.” …….
