Tennessee: Corker praises bank reform measure. US Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), a member of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, praised the committee’s passage, by a vote of 12-10, of The Financial Regulatory Improvement Act. Corker said in a release that the measure will reduce “the overwhelming regulatory burden facing community banks” and praised Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-AL) for his role in crafting the measure ……. North Carolina: State GOP convention to hear White House contenders. So far, at least four presidential contenders – announced or otherwise – are scheduled to speak at the Tar Heel State Republican Convention in Raleigh June 5-7: Ted Cruz, Scott Walker, Donald Trump and Ben Carson. More on the way? ……. Virginia: Comstock in gear for 2016. Although she has no Democratic opponent so far and won her seat by 16 points last year, freshman US Rep. Barbara Comstock (R) in the 10th District (Fairfax County, etc.) is already campaigning almost non-stop, reports the Washington Post. She was up at 5am Saturday to greet a search-and-rescue team returning from Nepal, then later attended a fundraiser for brain research and a Korean Bell Ceremony.
