Mississippi: Cochran marries aide. US Sen. Thad Cochran (R), 77, married Kay Webber, 76, an executive assistant in his office, in Gulfport, MS, reports the Washington Post. Cochran’s late wife, Rose, died last year at age 73, after spending 13 years in a nursing home, suffering from dementia. During Cochran’s reelection campaign last year, there were rumors, denied by his office, that Cochran had a romantic relationship with Webber, who has been a member of Cochran’s staff since 1981 ……. North Carolina: McCrory announces veterans’ resource guide. Just before the beginning of Memorial Day weekend, Gov. Pat McCrory (R) announced the release of the 2015 resource guide and updated website focused on federal Veterans Affairs concerns. There are an estimated 800,000 veterans in the Tar Heel State, reports WCTI12.com ……. Tennessee: Alexander urges TVA to limit wind power. US Sen. Lamar Alexander (R) urged the Tennessee Valley Authority to avoid “unreliable and uneconomical wind power,” reported the Chattanooga Times-Free Press. Noting that the area’s air is cleaner than it has been in decades, he added, “If nuclear is zero emissions and wind is more expensive and you don’t need it most of the time, why would you buy it?” …….
