Flag: Poll shows divisions on Confederate flag. According to a CNN poll, 57% of Americans nationwide view the Dixie banner as a symbol of pride rather than racism. Among Southern whites, 75% say pride to 18% racism; among Southern blacks, 75% say racism, to 11% pride. Nationally, 68% oppose renaming streets and highways named for Confederate leaders and 71% oppose removing tributes to those who fought for the Confederacy from public places ……. Florida: Scott ignoring Lopez-Cantera? Sunshine State reporters believe that the lack of official appearances by Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera (R) indicates Gov. Rick Scott’s (R) opposition to his number 2 guy running for the Senate. Some even say that Scott’s chief of staff, Melissa Sellers, is not sending the lite gov to ribbon cuttings because she plans to work for a rival GOP candidate, which she denies, reports the Tampa Bay Times ……. Kentucky: Beshear plays golf with Woods. He may be a lame-duck, but Gov. Steve Beshear (D) is getting plenty of attention in the Bluegrass State, not for politics, but because he was paired with golf great Tiger Woods in a pro-am tournament at the classy Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV, reports the Lexington Herald-Leader …….
