Louisiana: Scalise brings in the money. Fulfilling one of his duties as House Majority Whip, US Rep. Steve Scalise (R) has raised some $3.6 million so far this year for Republican members of Congress. His fundraising for the 1st Quarter set a record for fundraising by a whip, reports The Hill. And Scalise will host 15 GOP fundraisers during the August congressional recess …….

Tennessee: Legislator wants to impeach Haslam. Termed a “fiery lawmaker” by Chattanooga’s Times Free Press, state Rep. Rick Womick (R) attacked Gov. Bill Haslam (R) for saying that the state will obey the Supreme Court ruling in favor of same-sex marriage. “[I]t’s time to give serious consideration to impeachment hearings against Haslam,” Womick said on Facebook, adding “Our governor bowed down to the five self-appointed gods in black robes.” ……. Florida: Bush takes on Trump. Like Daniel walking into the lions’ den, Jeb Bush is treading where others are fearful to venture. Campaigning in Iowa, Bush called Trump’s rhetoric “divisive,” adding, reports The Hill. “We need to focus on the things that tie us together, and whether it’s Donald Trump or Barack Obama, their rhetoric of divisiveness is wrong.” …….
