$$$: Bush, Clinton raise the most. The biggest fundraiser in the 2016 race for the White House is Jeb Bush, who has brought in $11.4 million, plus a whopping $108 million raised by independent groups on his behalf. Right behind him is Hillary Clinton, who raised $47.1 million, much of it from women, reports the Washington Post, plus $15.6 million by independent groups. Ted Cruz with a combined total of $51.3 million and Marco Rubio with $45.2 million were next on the GOP side. Clinton’s closest Democratic challenger is Bernie Sanders, whose total was $15.1 million ……. Louisiana: Vitter, Edwards lead in governor’s race. It’s 31% for US Sen. David Vitter (R), 30% for state Rep. John Bel Edwards (D) in thePelican State’s governor’s race this fall, according to a June 30 poll by Triumph Campaigns. Next in line were Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle (R) with 14% and Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne (R) with 11%, reports the Times-Picayune. There were no runoff trial heats in the poll ……. Tennessee: Blackburn in a read-a-thon. US Rep. Marsh Blackburn (R) participated in a non-stop reading of Harper Lee’s famous novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” at a Nashville bookstore on July 8, reported The Tennessean. The event promoted the sale of Lee’s recently discovered “Go Set a Watchman.” …….
