Virginia: McAuliffe, Clintons have money ties. Of the $60 million that Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) has raised for his two gubernatorial bids, nearly $18 million has come from 175 individuals who have been major donors to the Clinton Foundation and to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, reports the Washington Post in a front-page story. The story also noted that few of the donors had significant, if any, ties to Virginia, though some are personal friends of McAuliffe ……. TN/GA: Corker, Isakson want to defund Planned Parenthood. In response to video footage showing a Planned Parenthood official discussing the sale of organs from aborted fetuses, US Sens. Bob Corker (R-TN) and Johnny Isakson (R-GA) have introduced a bill to strip the group of its federal funding, reports Chattanooga’s Times-Free Press. Corker referred to the organization’s “casual disregard for human life.” Isakson called the video “gruesome.” ……. NC: TV spots target Burr’s carbon emissions stance. The League of Conservation Voters is spending $100,000 on two television spots attacking US Sen. Richard Burr (R) for his opposition to the EPA’s soon-to-come carbon emission standards for power plants, reports Raleigh’s News & Observer. One ad contends that Burr’s position would “let polluters dump unlimited carbon pollution into our air.” Foes of the EPA standards contend they would result in increased utility bills …….
