Marco Rubio voiced concern on Tuesday about Donald Trump’s immigration plan, saying that the repeal of birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment is not the proper way to address the millions of immigrants who arrived in the United States illegally.
“I don’t agree with that,” the Florida senator and Republican presidential candidate said at the Iowa State Fair of Trump’s proposal to not automatically grant citizenship to the children of immigrants here illegally. “I’m open to doing things that prevent people who deliberately come to the U.S. for the purposes of taking advantage of the 14th Amendment, but I’m not in favor of repealing it,” he added.
