Louisiana: Vitter begins TV. With the largest war chest for the Oct. 24 open gubernatorial primary, US Sen. David Vitter (R) has launched his first television ad, reports The Advertiser. The 30-second spot, which is running statewide, notes Vitter’s promises to voters, including eliminating waste in state government, raising teacher pay and expanding job training ……. Florida: Hastings opposes Iran deal. US Rep. Alcee Hastings (D) has announced that he is against President Obama’s nuclear agreement with Iran, asserting it would allow Iran “to remain a nuclear threshold state.” One other Florida Democrat, US Rep. Ted Deutsch, has come out against the deal ……. Georgia: Isakson against government shut-down. US Sen. Johnny Isakson (R) told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that “[O]nly one good thing has ever come out of shutting the government down. That’s me. Newt Gingrich did it in 1998, lost his speakership, and I took his place.” …….
