Florida: Trump leads Bush and Rubio; Clinton support declines. The latest Quinnipiac Poll showed Donald Trump in first place among Sunshine State GOPers, with 21%. Jeb Bush was second with 17%, and Marco Rubio and Ben Carson (who retired to Florida) each had 11%, reports the Miami Herald. On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton led with 48%, compared to 64% in an earlier Quinnipiac survey. Bernie Sanders had 15% and Joe Biden 11%. In general election matchups, Trump, Bush and Rubio led Clinton ……. South Carolina: Scott meeting features Jindal. US Sen. Tim Scott (R) hosted Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) at a town hall meeting in Spartanburg, reported Scott previously featured former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) at a similar meeting, art of his project to help the state’s voters meet the GOP’s presidential candidates ……. Georgia: Deal says recession nearly over. Proclaiming that his state as “about escaped the great recession,” Gov. Nathan Deal (R) noted that the state’s “rainy day” reserve, almost empty when he took office in 2011, now has $1.3 billion. He plans to get it up to $2 billion, Deal said, reported The Moultrie Observer. Deal also noted that fewer non-violent criminals are being held in prison, while more violent criminals are being incarcerated …….
