Louisiana: Cassidy stresses natural gas. At a meeting of the Senate Energy Committee in Lafayette, US Sen. Bill Cassidy (R) noted that  the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Tulane and Israel are forming a partnership to discuss natural gas and lifting the ban on US exports of natural gas. “One thing that Acadiana will do to our allies in Israel is to show them how developing their natural gas fields will bring prosperity to their working families,” Cassidy told the group, reported KATC.com ……. Kentucky: Beshear announces drug abuse grants. Gov. Steve Beshear (D) announced this week that he is releasing more than $3.5 million in grants to local facilities for the treatment of prescription drug and heroin abuse. “Substance abuse continues to be one of the most stubborn, damaging public health and safety issues facing our Commonwealth,” Beshear said in a statement ……. South Carolina: Scott most social media savvy of GOP senators. According to a study of lawmakers’ effective use of social media accounts reported by the Wall Street Journal, US Sen. Tim Scott (R) received the only perfect score – 2.0 – on the Republican side of the aisle. The score was based on the size of the lawmaker’s Facebook account, its openness to comments by constituents, and replies to constituents’ comments. The leading Democrat was US Sen.
