North Carolina: McCrory signs budget. It was supposed to happen on July 1, but after a nearly two-month legislative stalemate, the two chambers reached agreement and last Friday Gov. Pat McCrory (R) signed the state’s $21 billion two-year budget, reported WTVD.com. The budget “includes many of the goals and ideas we put forward to provide the tools North Carolina needs to continue what we have accomplished during the past three years,” McCrory said in a statement ……. Florida: Grayson, Jolly lead Senate poll. A Public Policy Polling (D) survey released last week shows US Rep. David Jolly leading the contest for the GOP US Senate nomination for Marco Rubio’s (R) senate seat. Jolly had 18% to 15% for US Rep. Ron DeSantis and 14% for Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, with a whopping 52% undecided. On the Democratic side, US Rep. Alan Grayson leads with 33% to US Rep. Patrick Murphy’s 27%, with 39% undecided. In a General Election matchup, Jolly got 39%, Grayson 36% ……. Tennessee: Black eyeing governor’s race. US Rep. Diane Black (R) is making major appearances at political events throughout the state, in what observers are interpreting as preparation for a gubernatorial bid in 2018, reports The Tennessee Journal.
