Florida: Scott’s numbers improve. Gov. Rick Scott (R), whose popularity has been more down than up for much of his time in office, is now seeing a boost in his approval rating. A Florida Chamber Political Institute poll shows that 48% approve of his performance, to 39% who disapprove, reports ……. Kentucky: Whitfield retiring. US Rep. Ed Whitfield (R) has announced that, after 21 years representing the 1st District (Paducah, etc.), he will not seek reelection next year. Whitfield is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for reports that he aided his wife, Constance Harriman Whitfield, in her work on behalf of the Humane Society. State Agricultural Commissioner James Comer (R), who ran a close but losing race for governor last year, announced yesterday he will be a candidate to succeed Whitfield, reports the Courier-Journal.  ……. Alabama: Bentley divorce record unsealed. The divorce agreement between Gov. Robert Bentley (R) and his wife, Dianne, have been made public, reports The records concentrate on which spouse gets what property and other financial considerations. For example, “She gets her jewelry. He gets his guns.” …….
