Mississippi: Officials oppose school initiative. Gov. Phil Bryant, Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and state House Speaker Phil Gunn are campaigning against Initiative 42, which would give school funding powers to a Hinds County judge, reports the Sun-Herald. Foes claim the proposal would transfer legislative powers to a non-elected judge.
