Bob Corker (R), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, even threatened to subpoena Kerry. Finally, Kerry briefed the committee last Friday in a closed hearing ……. South Carolina: Gowdy says private Clinton hearing would have been better. US Rep. Trey Gowdy (R), who chaired the marathon hearing on Benghazi with Hillary Clinton as the witness, says that he gave Clinton a choice of a public or private hearing; she choice public. “The private ones always produce better results,” said Gowdy, as reported by TPM ……. Louisiana: Vitter bashes sheriff who arrested private investigator. US Sen. David Vitter (R), who came in a weak second in Saturday’s gubernatorial primary, says the arrest of a private investigator by Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand was intended to embarrass Vitter on the eve of the election. The investigator, said Vitter, “works for a firm that we hired to do research, all within the bounds of the law.” …….
