Georgia: Lewis to star in documentary. US Rep. John Lewis (D), whose long career as a civil rights activist preceded his election to Congress, will be the subject of a documentary film focused on his impressive career as a force for change in the South’s racial policies. “The John Lewis Story” will be directed by Emmy-winner Stanley Nelson, reports the Washington Post. Look for it in the fall of 2016 ……. Oklahoma: Lankford slams Obama’s pipeline decision. US Sen. James Lankford (R) penned an op-ed in The Oklahoman taking issue with President Obama’s rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline.  Lankford’s top two arguments: Obama was wrong in contending the project would not contribute to the US economy. “Private-sector investments boost the economy, which is a win for infrastructure, the economy and the taxpayer,” wrote Lankford. Secondly, Lankford contested the President’s argument that the pipeline would not lower the already-low US gasoline prices. The project “is about preventing prices from spiking in the future,” said Lankford ……. Alabama: Bentley favors gasoline tax hike. “People in this state want good bridges,” Gov. Robert Bentley told al.com, and a gasoline tax increase “will come up in the next session and there is a reasonably good chance it will pass and I’m for it.” ….…
