Alabama: Bentley says no to Syrian refugees. Acting in response to the terrorist attacks in Paris, Gov. Robert Bentley (R) said, “I will oppose any attempt to relocate Syrian refugees in Alabama.” ……. Arkansas: Hutchinson sympathizes with refugees, but … “The hardships facing these refugees and their families are beyond most of our understanding,” said Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R), but he will “oppose any facility or installation in Arkansas being used as a Syrian refugee center.” ……. Louisiana: Jindal tells Obama “no Syrians”. Amidst rumors that some 10,000 Syrian refugees had landed in New Orleans, Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) “demanded” information from the White House, which said only 14 had been sent to the Bayou State. Jindal has issued an executive order barring more Syrian refugees from the state ……. Texas: Abbott tells Obama “ISIS threat” real. Citing recent terrorist incidents in the Lone Star State, Gov. Greg Abbot (R) wrote President Obama that “Texas cannot participate in any program that will result in Syrian refugees – any one of whom could be connected to terrorism – being resettled in Texas.” …….
