North Carolina:  A split on court’s fairness. According to the latest Elon Poll of North Carolinians, 44% of whites, but only 22% of blacks, expressed great confidence in their local police. In addition, 64% of respondents believed that the poor are treated worse than others in the courts, while 46% believed African Americans and Hispanics received worse treatment. Only 4% believed whites received unfair treatment …….Florida: Tourism up, unemployment down. According to Sunshine State News, the latest statistics show that visitors to the Sunshine State in the first 9 months of this year increased by 5.5% over last year. Meanwhile, unemployment declined to 5.1%, a 7-year low ……. Virginia: Roanoke mayor apologizes. Mayor David Bowers (D) apologized for his recent statement that Syrian refugees should be sent to internment camps. “I’ve worked hard for 16 years to be a friendly mayor to all the 105 nationalities in our city, and I want to continue to do so,” the mayor said, reports the Washington Post …….
