South Carolina: Haley wants stronger military. “We have got to strengthen our military. We have to strengthen the equipment and the resources because we don’t know what is in the future,” Palmetto State Gov. Nikki Haley (R) told a group of officers from military installations in the state, reports the Military Times. Haley is frequently mentioned as a possible vice-presidential nominee ……. Florida: Scott mum on Trump’s Muslim ban plan. Gov. Rick Scott (R) declined a request from the Tampa Bay Times to get the governor’s opinion of Donald Trump’s proposal to temporarily ban Muslim refuges from the US. The governor’s spokesman said that Scott is focused “on getting more information from President Obama about the Syrian refugees being placed in Florida … and is focused on the security of Floridians from those who may wish us harm.” ……. Tennessee: Brock blasts Trump. Former US Sen. Bill Brock (R), in an op-ed last week in the Washington Post, wrote that he was “just as concerned about the destructive tone of the Trump campaign as I am about its demagogic content. How can you hear what someone else is saying … when you’re shouting?” …….
