Florida: Post highlights Rubio family scandal. In 1987, Orlando Cecilia, husband of Marco Rubio’s sister, was arrested by federal agents for dealing cocaine. Although Rubio was only 16 at the time, the episode has come to bother, if not haunt, his presidential campaign, with the Washington Post giving it front-page, above-the-fold coverage in last Sunday’s paper ……. North Carolina: Ellmers catches franking flak. Members of Congress receive a huge campaign freebie in the form of free mailing privileges to their constituents. Although the mailings are theoretically non-political, Ellmers’ mailing, which explained her views on Obamacare and other congressional issues, provoked an outcry from her three primary foes, reports the News & Observer …….  Virginia: Kaine for veep? US Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), in an interview with the National Journal, is touting US Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) for the Democratic vice-presidential nomination. If Hillary Clinton is at the top of the ticket, Kaine would bring residence in a key swing state, his relatively moderate politics, and his Roman Catholic religion to the ticket. Moreover, having Booker, an African-American, boost Kaine takes the edge off any liberal objections to a Southerner on the ticket  …….
