Texas: Patrick appoints West. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) has appointed former Florida Congressman Allen West (R), a hard-right conservative, to the state’s Sunset Advisory Commission, which reviews the efficiency of state agencies, reports the Texas Tribune. West moved to Texas from Florida a year ago and is now president of the NationalCenter for Policy Analysis, a Dallas think-tank ……. South Carolina: Haley sells buildings and more. Gov. Nikki Haley (R) has already signaled the sale of eight older state buildings, which would save the state $30 million in maintenance costs. Now she’s looking at centralizing the maintenance and management of state assets for an additional $35 million in savings, reports the Post & Courier ……. Arkansas: Boozman backs money for Delta Regional Authority. US Sen. John Boozman (R) worked to get a $25 million increase approved for the Delta Regional Authority, an interstate agency that focuses on economic development. Boozman, however, won’t vote for the overall $1.1 trillion bill, because he disagrees with other provisions, reports the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette …….
