Alabama: Shelby launches TV campaign. US Sen. Richard Shelby (R), who will be seeking his sixth term this year, aired the first television ad for his reelection effort last week, reports al.com. The TV spot, which aired during last Thursday’s Alabama-Michigan State game, focused on Shelby’s constituent service, noting that he visits all of the state’s 67 counties every year ……. Florida: Rubio helped brother-in-law. In 2002, when Marco Rubio was speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, he sent a letter to the Florida Division of Real Estate asking that his sister’s husband be granted a license to sell real estate, according to the Washington Post. Rubio wrote the letter on his official stationary on behalf of his brother-in-law, who had served 20 months in prison for selling cocaine ……. Kentucky: Paul performs eye surgeries. Rand Paul, in addition to being a US Senator and a presidential candidate, is an ophthalmologist. Last month, he removed cataracts from two uninsured patients free of charge at Paducah’sAmbulatory Surgery Center. Paul performs two procedures annually, reports BeckerASC.com. …….
