Mississippi: Super delegates taking sides. Three of the five automatic Democratic convention delegates from the Magnolia State have endorsed Hillary Clinton: US Rep. Bennie Thompson, state Democratic chairman Rickey Cole and Democratic National Committee (DNC) member Vallena Greer. But last week, reports the Clarion-Ledger, Keelan Sanders, former executive director of the state party, endorsed Bernie Sanders. DNC member Johnnie Patton remains undecided ……. Kentucky: Bevin budget funds pensions, cuts spending. Gov. Matt Bevin (R) proposed his first budget this week, adding $1.1 billion to the teachers’ retirement system but cutting spending for most state agencies by 9%, reports the Courier-Journal. The legislature will have to pass on the budget, but Bevin said he “will not sign a bill that looks tremendously different” from his proposal ……. Florida: Ros-Lehtinen backs LGBT rights. Co-authoring an op-ed in The Hill with US Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA), US Rep. Ros-Lehtinen, one of the few Southern Republicans supportive of gay rights, urged Congress to include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in the rules which govern hiring congressional hiring …….
