Tennessee: Corker urges pro-active North Korean policy. In an op-ed for CNN, US Sen. Bob Corker (R), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, noted that the soon-to-pass North Korea Sanctions and Policy Enhancement Act “will provide the executive branch with a more robust set of policy tools to confront the threat posed by the rogue regime in Pyongyang.” ……. Florida: Scott asks for help on Zika. Gov. Rick Scott (R) has asked the Centers for Disease Control to provide at least 1,000 tests for the Zika virus, as he extended his public health emergency to populous BrowardCounty, reported Sunshine State News. “With over 20 million residents and 100 million tourists, we must stay ahead of the possible spread of the Zika virus,” Scott said …….North Carolina: “Continue voting.” On Friday, a federal three-judge panel ruled that the state’s 1st and 12th congressional districting were racially gerrymandered and must be redrawn by Feb. 19. The requirement could affect neighboring districts as well. The US Supreme Court, however, could grant a stay of the ruling. On Saturday, officials at the state’s Board of Elections urged the 8,611 persons who had already received absentee ballots “to continue voting,” reports the News & Observer.
