South Carolina: Haley endorses Rubio. Word leaked out yesterday afternoon that Gov. Nikki Haley (R), the Palmetto State’s most popular Republican, would endorse Marco Rubio (R-FL) for president. Haley’s endorsement, coming at a rally in GOP-heavy Lexington County, could boost the son of Cuban immigrants to second place or better in Saturday’s primary ……. North Carolina: Tillis says Senate should consider Obama court nominee. US Sen. Thom Tillis (R), elected only last November, says it would be a mistake for the GOP Senate to refuse to consider a Supreme Court nominee named by President Obama, for fear being labeled “obstructionist.” Tillis, a conservative, added, “[I]f he puts forth someone that we think is in the mold of President Obama’s vision for America, then we’ll use every device available to block that nomination,” reports Politico, and wait for the next president to nominate someone …….. Kentucky: Bevin gets help on Medicaid costs. US Sen. Rand Paul (R), continuing to focus on his Senate duties since he withdrew from the presidential contest, says he will help Gov. Matt Bevin (R) get a waiver from the federal government so he can get Medicaid recipients to help pay for their health insurance. “You can’t load so many people on the wagon that there are not enough people pulling the wagon,” Paul said, reported the Courier-Journal. “I want more latitude for the governor to figure out ways to try to help people transition from government assistance to actually having jobs.” ……..
