Louisiana: Edwards, Kennedy clash. At a meeting of oil and gas officials earlier this week, state Treasurer John Kennedy (R), a candidate for the US Senate, was telling his audience that Gov. John Bel Edwards’ (D) plan for Louisiana businesses was “to cut their budgets so the state doesn’t have to cut its budget,” reports The Advocate. About that time, Edwards walked in and said he favored “shared sacrifice,” but that “now is not the time to extract more revenue” from the state’s petroleum industry ……. Florida: Scott, Jennings clash. Gov. Rick Scott (R) was buying a cup of coffee at a Starbucks in Gainesville this week when former Lake Worth city commissioner Cara Jennings (D) yelled at him, “You cut Medicaid so I couldn’t get Obamacare. You are an a—–e! You don’t care about working people.” Scott replied, “we got a million jobs.” Politifact Florida, a project of the Miami Herald and the Tampa Bay Times, reports that Scott did not cut Medicaid, but he did decline to accept the Obamacare funds that would have expanded Medicaid in the state; moreover, the state has gained a million jobs under Scott ……. North Carolina: Burr loses basketball bet. When Villanova defeated UNC for the NCAA basketball championship, US Sen. Richard Burr (R) lost his bet with US Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA).
