Arkansas: Cotton blocks confirmation of terrorism official. US Sen. Tom Cotton (R), one of the Senate’s most dedicated hawks, blocked the confirmation of Adam Szubin for a post in the Treasury Department responsible for combating terrorism and financial crimes, reports Fox News. Cotton is concerned that the Obama Administration would further ease restrictions on Iran ……. Kentucky: Bevin, Beshear knock heads. Former Gov. Steve Beshear (D) referred to his successor, Gov. Matt Bevin (R), as a bully and called him “petty” and vindictive,” reports WKYT in Lexington. Beshear was responding to Bevin’s remarks about the former head of the Personnel Cabinet in the Beshear administration who pled guilty to charges involving bribery, money laundering and kickbacks. Bevin’s communications director characterized Beshear’s remarks as “wild, baseless … not corroborated by any facts.” ……. Florida: Castor hits GOP on Zika response. Noting that Florida “is already leading the country” in Zika cases, US Rep. Kathy Castor (D) said that “we want to make sure that our neighbors … have the tools they need to avid contacting the virus and to prevent the spread of it,” reports the SaintPetersBlog.
