Louisiana: Cassidy would campaign for Trump. “Everybody has underestimated Trump,” freshman US Sen. Bill Cassidy (R) told a classroom of students in Baton Rouge, reported The Advocate. He praised Trump’s views on Obamacare and his business-friendly proposals. “I’m a Republican and I want a Republican to win,” he said ……. South Carolina: Top GOPers split on Trump. US Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) has not recanted any of his severe criticisms of Donald Trump, Tweeting, “If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed…..and we will deserve it.” But US Sen. Tim Scott (R), Gov. Nikki Haley (R) and state GOP chairman Matt Moore all said they are supporting Trump. “You have to respect Donald Trump’s electoral success,” saidMoore, reports the Post and Courier ……. Florida: Nelson won’t comment on veep prospects. US Sen. Bill Nelson (D), the former astronaut who has been mentioned as a potential running mate for Hillary Clinton, said “I’m not going to comment on that,” reported bradenton.com. “It’s too premature.” Not exactly a Sherman statement …….
