Turnout: GOP record, Dems close. According to figures compiled by Rasmussen Reports, some 26.1 million people have voted in the Republican presidential primaries thus far (not counting the May 17 contests in Kentucky and Oregon), the highest number ever. For the Democrats, the total is 22.2 million, not close to the 36.8 million in 2008, but closing in on the 23 million in 1988. This may presage a record turnout in November, “But it is much harder to tell at this point whether either party would enjoy an advantage,” writes Rasmussen’s Rhodes Cook ……. Florida: Rubio not happy about anonymous sources. “Funny to read about unnamed ‘people close’ to me who claim to know my thinking on future plans,” Marco Rubio tweeted, reports MSNBC. “They just make it up.” ……. South Carolina: Legislature bans abortions after 19 weeks. ThePalmetto State became the 17th state to pass a law banning abortions 19 weeks after conception. The bill now goes to Gov. Nikki Haley (R), who has indicated she is “almost certain,” reports the Washington Post, to sign it …….
