South Carolina: Haley stumps for Gillespie. Gov. Nikki Haley (R), a still-mentioned contender for vice-president, campaigned for former Republican National Chairman Ed Gillespie who is running for governor of Virginia in 2017. Stressing an inclusion based approach, Haley, the daughter of immigrants from India, told 150 GOP activists in Richmond, “When we run for office, our job is to work for everybody,” reports the Washington Post ……. North Carolina: Anti-wind energy bill proposed. Two state senators have introduced legislation that would place restrictions on wind-power “farms” in the state. State Sen. Bill Cook (R), one of the bill’s sponsors, emailed the News & Observer, “It is obvious that many people (due to view, sound, flicker, etc.) would choose NOT to buy a home where there are industrial wind turbines close by.” ……. Louisiana: Edwards signs medical marijuana bill. Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) this week became the latest Southern governor to sign legislation allowing patients access to medical marijuana, reports WDSU.com. The bill, authored by a Republican state senator, expands the number of diseases marijuana can be used for and expedites the regulatory process concerning the medication. It allows physicians to “recommend,” not prescribe, therapeutic pot, so as not to run afoul of federal law …….
