Florida: Sanders throws support to Canova.  Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is throwing his endorsement and the rabid supporters and big money that go with it to Tim Canova, a Democrat running against current party Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz.  The party head has come under fire for her apparent favoring of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, and now must face a well funded and supported primary challenger.  Georgia: Loudermilk, Collins survive primary challengers.  U.S. Congressmen Barry Loudermilk and Doug Collins both fended off primary challenges from the right, ending speculation that Donald Trump’s success in the Presidential primary would lead to a wave of anti-establishment wins on the state level in the Peach State.  Texas: Attorney General fights Obama directive.  Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is at the forefront of the backlash against President Obama’s transgender bathroom directive, authoring a federal lawsuit signed by Texas and 10 other states including Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama.
