North Carolina: Ellmers loses. Third-term US Rep. Renee Ellmers (R) lost the 2nd District (Raleigh, etc.) Republican Primary to second-term US Rep. George Holding. Ellmers had been endorsed by Donald Trump, but was opposed by a coalition of conservative groups. Other incumbents (R) with primary opposition were re-nominated with ease, including Walter Jones, Virginia Foxx, Richard Hudson and Patrick McHenry ……. Arkansas: Boozman, Eldridge criticize Trump over judge remarks. US Sen. John Boozman (R) and his Democratic challenger, former US Attorney Conner Eldridge, both were critical of Trump’s negative comments about Federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is handling the Trump University case. Eldridge said “I absolutely condemn” Trump’s remarks. Boozman said that Trump’s comments “are inappropriate… We don’t judge people by their last name or ethnicity.” ……. Florida: Bush says Trump should repudiate Curiel comments.
