Florida: Rubio likely to seek reelection to Senate. Now that Marco Rubio looks like he’ll run to keep his US Senate seat, the GOP field is clearing out to make way for him.US Rep. David Jolly (R) has withdrawn his Senate bid while Florida Attorney General Carlos Lopez-Cantera now says that if Rubio decides to run for re-election, the lieutenant governor would back out of the race. A poll by St. Leo University in early June shows Rubio with 52% of Republicans in a Senate race, to 5% for DeSantis, with others in even lower single digits ……. Alabama: Hubbard convicted. Speaker of the state House of Representatives Mike Hubbard (R) has been convicted on 12 of 23 corruption charges. The charges included allegations that he used his office to solicit funds and business. Hubbard will be sentenced on July 8 ……. Virginia: Sex offenders removed from voter rolls. In a move to stem the continuing bad publicity attached to Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s (D) enfranchisement of convicted felons who have served their sentences, the state has deleted the names of 132 persons who had been convicted of sex-related crimes. State officials say an error placed the names on the voters list, reports the Washington Post. GOPers say it was an after-the-fact “cover-up.” …….
