Georgia: Gingrich says whites don’t understand being black. Newt Gingrich (R), former House Speaker and hot prospect for Donald Trump’s running mate, said in response to the recent racially-related violence, “It is more dangerous to be black inAmerica… [Y]ou’re substantially more likely to end up in a situation where the police don’t respect you and where you could easily get killed.” ……. Texas: Abbott, Patrick part ways on protestors. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) told Fox News, “All those protesters last night, they ran the other way expecting the men and women in blue to turn around and protect them. What hypocrites!” Asked about Patrick’s comment, Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said, “This should not be used as a tool of division,” and praised the heroism of Dallas police officers ……. Florida: Brown indicted. US Rep. Corrine Brown (D) of the 5th District (Jacksonville, etc.) was indicted last week on 22 counts related to her association with a charitable foundation. Brown and her chief of staff “are alleged to have used the Congresswoman’s official position to solicit over $800,000 in donations to a supposed charitable organization, only to use that organization as a personal slush fund,” said federal Assistant Attorney General Leslie Caldwell. The FBI reported that of the $800,000 raised, only two scholarships, totaling $1,200, were awarded by the organization …….
