North Carolina: Burr hits Trump on “2nd Amendment people.” In Wilmington on Tuesday, Donald Trump said in reference to gun control that “If [Hillary Clinton] gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is.” US Sen. Richard Burr (R) reacted on Wednesday, reports the News & Observer: “Like most Americans, I was surprised by the statement. I think Donald Trump could better serve the Republican Party by spending more time talking about the foreign policy failures under President Obama and Hillary Clinton.” ……. South Carolina: Haley answers Coulter. During an unrelated news conference, Gov. Nikki Haley (R) was asked about conservative commentator Ann Coulter’s attack on her for criticizing Donald Trump’s remarks about the Gold Star Khan family. “Bless her heart,” Haley said, using a traditional Southern put-down, reported WIS-TV ……. Virginia: Felons on voter rolls to be identified. The head of the Elections Commission announced yesterday that the board would release the names of some 13,000 ex-convicts added to the voting rolls since Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s (D) executive order enfranchising some 206,000 former prisoners was declared unconstitutional, a move McAuliffe had resisted. This could provide “a potent political tool” for the GOP, reports the Washington Post, since they had already found some murderers and six offenders among the new voters …….
