Virginia: 19 dead people registered. The FBI and local police are investigating how at least 19 people who are dead were put back on the voting rolls. The fraudulent registrants were re-enrolled by a private and unnamed group registering voters at JamesMadison University, reports the Washington Post. (Meanwhile, in California, Gov. Jerry Brown [D] signed a bill, passed by the Democratic legislature, allowing felons residing in county jails to vote. One of the lawmakers [D] backing the measure told CBS Sacramento that civic participation is part of reducing recidivism.) …….Tennessee: Haslam hosts fundraisers; Democrats respond. In July, Gov. Bill Haslam (R) held a fundraising luncheon at the governor’s mansion for US Rep. Diane Black (R), facing a primary challenge. Democrats complained and asked the state attorney general for a ruling on its legality; he hasn’t responded, reported The Tennessean. Then last week, Haslam struck again, hosting a private luncheon at the mansion to raise money for US Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), whom Haslam backed for president. Democratic legislators are now preparing legislation to ban fundraisers at the governor’s mansion ……. Alabama: Roy Moore suspended, again. State Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore (R) has been suspended without pay for the rest of his term. The Alabama Judicial Inquiry Commission ruled that Moore failed to comply with the law when he ordered county probate judges to refuse marriage licenses to same-sex couples …….
