GOP: Dixie lawmakers desert their nominee. At least five Southern members (R) of Congress have withdrawn their support from Donald Trump in the wake of the 2005 video showing him speaking of his – ahem – attraction to women: US Reps. Bradley Byrne (AL), Barbara Comstock (VA), Will Hurd (TX), Martha Roby (AL) & Tom Rooney (FL) ……. Florida: Rubio in the money. US Sen. Marco Rubio raised $9 million in the 3rd Quarter, compared to challenger Patrick Murphy’s (D) $3.3 million. Despite problems with charges of resume padding, Murphy is not that far behind in the latest Quinnipiac Poll, with 48% for Rubio, 44% for Murphy. The Trump-Clinton race could tip the scales ……. South Carolina: Haley up, Obama down. In the latest Winthrop Poll, Gov. Nikki Haley (R) received a positive rating from 57% of respondents. President Obama was approved by 48% but disapproved by 50%. US Sen. Tim Scott (R), up for reelection this year, has a 52% approval rating. Seventy percent said the country is headed in the wrong direction, citing as problems the economy, race/racism, and terrorism. Nearly half said that South Carolina is “on the right track” and 61%said the state’s economy is very or fairly good …….
