GOP: Some stick with Trump. In varying degrees of support and some dismay, a number of Dixie Republicans have announced they are still standing by The Donald, despite the “Access Hollywood” video tape. They include US Sens. John Boozman (AR), Richard Burr (NC), Ted Cruz (TX) and Govs. Phil Bryant (MS) and Asa Hutchinson (AR) ……. Florida: Judge extends voter registration period. After Gov. Rick Scott (R) refused to extend the period for registering to vote, despite Hurricane Matthew, Federal Judge Mark Walker, an appointee of President Obama, overruled the governor and extended the registration deadline. The lawsuit requesting an extension was brought by the Florida Democratic Party and others, reported the Tampa Bay Times ……. Virginia: Trump fires state director. Less than a month before the election, the Trump campaign fired its state director in a crucial battleground state. Stewart was fired for participating in a demonstration in front of the Republican National Committee headquarters Monday, which he contended was to warn the RNC against abandoning Trump. A Trump campaign official called the demonstration “a stunt,” reported the Washington Post …….
