Florida: Clinton, Rubio ahead. The latest Public Policy Polling survey gives Hillary Clinton 46% among likely voters, to 42% for Donald Trump, 5% for Gary Johnson and 1% for Jill Stein. The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll gives US Sen. Marco Rubio (R) 48% to 46% for challenger Patrick Murphy (D) ……. Virginia: Libertystudents oppose Falwell and Trump. A group of students organized as Liberty United Against Trump has criticized school President Jerry Falwell Jr. for supporting Donald Trump, declaring that Trump “has made his name by maligning others and bragging about his sins.” Falwell praised the students for “speaking their minds,” but said they were wrong in their criticism ……. Mississippi: Bryant conservative, for racial harmony. Last week, Gov. Phil Bryant (R) welcomed former US Sen. Jim DeMint (R) of the Heritage Foundation to the Governor’s Mansion, who recognized Bryant as a “Conservative Leader.” Bryant, however, does cross racial, if not party, lines. Earlier this month he declared October “Racial Conciliation Month” and honored MissionMississippi, a Christian group found in 1993 that works to break down racial barriers, reports The Oxford Eagle …….
