North Carolina GOP Rep. Patrick McHenry, the chief deputy majority whip, has raised and given out nearly $5 million for his fellow Republicans this cycle.
McHenry — first elected to Congress in 2004 — has raised nearly $3 million for candidates and incumbents at 135 events, said a source close to the North Carolina Republican. He has donated almost $700,000 to members directly from his leadership PAC, More Conservatives PAC, and transferred over $1.2 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee from his reelection campaign, Federal Election Commission records show.
McHenry serves on the Financial Services Committee as well as being in leadership, and he has built strong ties to the banking industry, which is a major player in North Carolina.
