North Carolina: Tillis slams Obamacare. US Sen. Thom Tillis (R), in his GOP address last Saturday, said that President Obama had promised his healthcare program “would lower premiums by some $2,500 a year. Instead, the premiums have increased by an average of nearly $5,000 a year since before the law was enacted.” Meanwhile, federal regulators announced on Monday that premiums would rise 25% for next year ……. Florida: Hastings promotes “souls to the polls.” Sunshine State Democrats are making a major effort to get African-American voters to the polls this election, with major pushes in black churches on Oct. 30 and Nov. 6. “By the Sunday before the election, most people who are in church have already voted,” US Rep. Alcee Hastings (D) told Orlando’s Sun Sentinel ……. Virginia: McAuliffe helped finance campaign of FBI official’s wife. Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), a long-time ally of Hillary Clinton, has come under fire for donating $500,000 to the state senate campaign of Dr. Jill McCabe (D), whose husband, Andrew McCabe, later helped manage the agency’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email use. The McCabe contribution was the third largest of the contributions McAuliffe directed to a number of Democratic legislative campaigns in 2015 …….
