South Carolina: Haley says election “turned my stomach.” Gov. Nikki Haley (R), long-time critic of Donald Trump, reiterated yesterday that she will vote for him, citing Supreme Court appointments as one of her reasons, reported WYFF in Greenville. She added, however, that the campaign “has been embarrassing for both parties. It’s not something the country deserves, but it’s what we’ve got.” ……. Florida: GOP may gain Murphy’s House seat. According to private polls cited by The Cook Report, Brian Mast (R) is leading wealthy Randy Perkins (D) in the contest for the open US House seat being vacated by Senate candidate Patrick Murphy (D). Mast campaign spokesman Madison Anderson told the Palm Beach Post, “[T]he momentum is now with Brian Mast.” ……. Arkansas: Cotton in 2020. The Harvard Crimson, the distinguished university’s student-run daily newspaper, notes that Harvard grad Tom Cotton, now aUS Senator, recently spent four days in Iowa campaigning for Republicans and suggests he’s a prospect for the White House race in four years. “I think he’s to be taken very seriously,” said government/sociology professor Theda Skocpol, reported the Crimson story by Hannah Natanson …….
