If the GOP retains its majority in the US Senate, Richard Shelby (AL) will lose his spot heading the Banking committee and James Inhofe (OK) will have to step down from atop the Environment and Public Works committee, both due to party term-limits rules. But Thad Cochran (MS) at Appropriations and Bob Corker (TN) at Foreign Relations will stay put, reports Bloomberg ……. Texas: Cruz would leave high Court vacancy. US Sen. Ted Cruz (R) has suggested that if Hillary Clinton is elected president, the Senate may refuse to ratify the appointment of a ninth Supreme Court justice. “[T]here is a long historical precedent for a Supreme Court with fewer justices,” Cruz said, reported Fortune. He cited Justice Stephen Breyer’s comment on Morning Joe that “the mechanics work about the same” with eight justices as with a full slate ……. Kentucky: Obama on the radio for Yarmuth, sort of. In a radio spot that spends more time criticizing Gov. Matt Bevin (R) for his opposition to Medicaid expansion, President Obama endorsed the reelection of US Rep.
